On February 16, 2010, the Executive Board of Midwestern Baptist College met to discuss the future of our institution. After a careful and prayerful review of the present state of the college the following conclusions were reached:
- The ministry of Midwestern is still needed in our society and geographical region.
- The heritage of this institution, including, but not limited to its founders, Dr. & Mrs. Tom Malone, Sr., should be preserved.
- This institution MUST remain faithful to the independent, fundamental, Baptist foundation on which it originated, and have a strong connection to a local, independent, fundamental, Baptist church.
- To secure these measures, and in light of the present financial state of the college, a motion was made, seconded, and passed by a vote of 6-0 to relocate the institution of Midwestern Baptist College & Seminary to the property of Shalom Baptist Church beginning with the Fall semester of 2010.
- Shalom Baptist Church is in the process of selling off a portion of its Baldwin Road frontage. The proceeds from this sale will be used to make needed updates to their present property in preparation of the relocation. The donation of the property, parking lot area, and landscaping represents a commitment on behalf of Shalom in excess of $1.5 million dollars. Plans have been made to build a “new” Malone Sr. Hall that will house both classrooms and dorm facilities. The completion of this new building will require the raising of an additional $1.5 million dollars. Our desire is to see the ministry of Midwestern continue and receive a new breath of life.
- We will humbly ask others to join with us in prayer and support during this exciting transition.
